"This is a genre where women really get great opportunities, and where also some of our most famous women seem to keep flocking to. The obvious is Naomi Watts in The Ring. But then you think about Halle Berry--after she won the Oscar, she made Gothika. Or Charlize Theron, her first choice after she won the Oscar was Aeon Flux. Or Gwyneth Paltrow's biggest success lately has been Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Why is that? That's because that's where women really get to flourish. I don't know why that is, I don't know why women superhero movies don't seem to do as well as women thrillers. Comedies just make more money when it's Adam Sandler than if it's a female. It's just the way the moviemaking business seems to go. But I don't know why."

In Stab, the film playing in the theatre at the beginning of SCREAM 2, Tori Spelling plays Sydney, Heather Graham is Casey, and Luke Wilson, is Billy. In the film, Dewey Riley (David Arquette) asks Sidney (Neve Campbell) "If they make a movie about you, who's gonna play you?" Sidney replies, "With my luck, they'd cast Tori Spelling."

The premiere of Stab in the film was shot at The Rialto Theater in South Pasadena, California. The classroom scene was shot at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. The the music for the song 'Take Away the Fear' was written by Michael Maccini after his second date with Jessica Craven, who then did the arrangement and lyrics that were used in Scream 2. Slashereffect posted this image on Instagram and quoted Gellar as saying: “I was so happy that i was going to act with one of my great friends (rebecca gayheart) because we studied at the same school. that scene didn’t make it into the final cut, and they felt so bad about it that they wrote me another scene with joshua jackson (classroom). so they filmed it in LA while i was on ‘Buffy’”

Varese Sarabende has released a deluxe edition of the soundtrack to SCREAM 2 which includes Danny Elfman’s Cassandra Aria.

"Like all sequels, this one is a transparent attempt to cash in on the original -- but, of course, it knows it is, and contains its own learned discussion of sequels. The verdict is that only a few sequels have been as good as the originals; the characters especially like 'Aliens' and 'The Godfather, Part II.' As for 'Scream 2,' it's...well, it's about as good as the original."
